During Holy Week, bishops bless sacred oils in St. George’s Cathedral during the Chrism Mass.
We use the oil of Chrism during baptisms, confirmation, ordination and the consecration of altars. We use the oil of catechumens at the Easter Vigil. We use the oil of the sick to anoint people during the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.
We distribute the oils to parishes for sacramental celebrations throughout the year.
